Identify the product rather than its nickname
Ask whether the proposal is a one-part paint, a two-component resin or another specified system. Record the layers, preparation, use limits and cure instructions. The same casual description can hide materially different scopes.
Compare the work before the finish
Old coatings, contaminants, repairs and moisture still need attention. Rust-Oleum’s garage coating instructions address the condition and adhesion of previously coated surfaces; the product label is not permission to skip preparation.
Match maintenance and use expectations
Tell the contractor about vehicles, tools, cleaning and sunlight. Ask which documented properties fit those exposures and how repairs would be handled. Avoid assuming every resin coating outperforms every paint under every condition.
