Separate preparation from repair
Removing old material and profiling a surface are different from filling a crack or rebuilding damaged concrete. Ask for each applicable task in the proposal rather than one unexplained “prep included” line.
ICRI’s surface preparation guidance discusses selecting a profile for the intended material. The chosen coating system should define what profile and substrate condition it needs.
Price known work and uncertainty
Mark visible cracks and surface loss. Ask what repair allowance is included and who approves changes if preparation reveals more damage. A decorative coating scope should not imply structural correction.
Connect repairs to the system
Ask about the repair material, cure requirement, compatibility and expected visibility. Use the crack repair questions and profiling scope for specific details.
Include floor history and photos with your project request. The contractor confirms suitability and the final repair plan.
