Separate floor powder from tracked-in dirt
Record whether dust occurs throughout the garage or only near the door, a workbench or an old repair. Tell the assessor about grinding, sanding or other work recently performed nearby. A recurring powdery patch should be described as an observation, not assigned a cause from a photograph.
Ask how the coating will bond to the surface
The contractor should explain what will be removed, what assessment will confirm the remaining surface is suitable and what the selected system requires. A proposal that says only “seal the dust in” leaves the condition of the substrate unresolved.
Ask whether further deterioration discovered during preparation changes the price or schedule. Keep repair allowances distinct from the decorative coating layers.
Choose the response after the assessment
A clear treatment and a decorative resin floor create different appearances and may require different preparation. Compare the concrete sealing decision guide with the garage coating scope after the surface has been assessed.
For an inquiry, include photos, the approximate area, whether the powder returns and any known prior product. Ask for a written explanation of the preparation instead of buying a new sealer solely because the floor is dusty.
