Solid-Color Garage Floors

A solid-color garage floor creates a continuous color field without a decorative flake blend. Compare it with flake using actual samples, intended traffic and the appearance you can live with between cleanings.

Guidance by Scenic City Garage Coatings. Reviewed October 6, 2026. Planning information; onsite suitability is confirmed by the contractor.

Use a sample that matches the build

Ask whether the sample has the proposed base, topcoat, sheen and texture. A paint chip does not show the whole surface. View the color next to cabinets and at the doorway under daylight.

Discuss visible repairs and everyday marks

A continuous color field can make a patch, scratch or debris noticeable differently from a varied blend. Ask the contractor what substrate features may show and how a future local repair would be approached. Do not assume one finish makes all imperfections disappear.

Choose for the way you use the garage

If dropped small parts need to be found at a workbench, include that task in the sample review. If the space is mainly parking and storage, consider the whole floor with the vehicles and cabinet layout.

Compare the full-flake alternative, review gloss and lighting, and ask about the complete epoxy system rather than selecting a color without its preparation and final surface.
