Garage Floor Gloss Levels

Garage floor gloss describes how the surface reflects light. Choose it using a sample under your actual lighting, together with color, texture and cleaning expectations. A glossy photograph cannot establish slip behavior or predict every mark on your slab.

Guidance by Scenic City Garage Coatings. Reviewed October 6, 2026. Planning information; onsite suitability is confirmed by the contractor.

Compare samples in two lighting conditions

Look at the proposed sample in daylight from the door and under the garage fixtures. View it from standing height and at a low angle. Note how reflections interact with cabinet colors and whether the sample shows the selected texture.

Keep sheen and texture separate

A smooth-looking high-gloss sample and a textured floor can have different appearances and cleaning needs. Ask the contractor how the final topcoat and additive affect both. Do not use visual shine as a substitute for the slip-condition discussion.

Decide what you want to notice

Think about tire paths, fine dust and occasional workshop debris. Review color and gloss together in the flake selection guide. Ask whether repaired areas or existing unevenness may remain visible under reflections.

Record the product, chosen sheen and finish sample in the proposal. At handover, compare to that agreed reference using the inspection checklist, rather than comparing to an unrelated promotional photo.
